October 2014 Newsletter
Hello all!
Our Mini Carnival for grades K - 3 was held on October 3rd and was a great success. The kids said they had a good time and were looking forward to another one. Thank you so much to all those who donated snacks and drinks, it was a big help. Also, a big thank you to the parents and teachers who volunteered their time to help that afternoon. We absolutely could not have done it without you.
Our first skate night was also very successful. We will be holding another one on Monday October 27th from 6:00 - 8:30 and admission is $3.00. Again, please arrive by 8:20 to pick up your children. If this continues to be an event of interest, we will try and have one each month. So, let us know what your kids think, we work for them! The Beta Club will be hosting a Halloween dance on that same Monday(the 27th) from 5:00 - 7:00. Grades 4 -8 are welcome. Admission is $5.00 and includes pizza and a drink. Please keep costumes school appropriate and dress code compliant. This gives you a couple of activity options for that evening. So if you are not a skater then be a dancer!
This Friday October 31st, PTA will be selling SNIFTY scented pens and pencils. Pencils will be $1.00 and come in 10 different scents. Pens will be $2.00 and come in 4 different scents. Sales will be held before school and during lunch.
Martin Library's annual book fair will also begin on Friday the 31st and run through Friday November 7th. Parents are welcome to come during the day after stopping by the office and signing in or visit during family night on Tuesday November 4th. Students will be given the opportunity to shop at the book fair during the week as their class schedule allows.
This is the last week of daylight savings time so enjoy it while you can. Go out and take advantage of the last of the mild weather because the cold winter is on its way!
Take care of yourselves and each other.Renee Stokes

PTA September Newsletter
Hello members,
Welcome to the 2014 - 2015 school year,
This year's membership drive was very successful. I would like to thank all of you who took the time to sign up. Also, a big congratulations is in order for Mr. Ferguson's homeroom class; they are the winners of the membership drive and will be rewarded with an Italian Ice Party!
As you visit the school this year, please take notice of our new bulletin board outside the office across from the Eagle's Nest. We will be keeping this updated with upcoming events, items we need donated and volunteer opportunities. We also have a donation bank set up in the office if it is easier for you to donate that way. Just look for the Captain America tin on the table in the office. All donations are greatly appreciated. You can also stay informed about the current happenings and more by visiting our website. Simply go to the Martin site and click on the link for PTA.
On Monday September 29th, from 6:00 - 8:30pm will be having a skate night at the Woodmere Skating Center. Admission is $3.00 and Martin PTA will receive 50% of every admission. All are welcome so bring your friends!
On Friday October 3rd, we will be having a mini carnival for our Kindergarten through third grade. It will be held from 3:00 - 5:00pm. Admission is $5.00 and includes games with prizes, Wii dance party, a movie, drinks and snacks. Sign up forms and money will be due Monday October 1st. Look for the forms to come home with your students early next week.
We are in need of several donations for this event, starting with your time. If you are able to spend a couple hours with us that afternoon please let us know. Also, we need: individually packaged store bought snacks, (we will be popping popcorn but would also like to offer other choices, new guidelines only allow us to offer store bought items) 2 liter bottles of Sierra Mist, lemonade, Sprite, or orange soda, and red Solo cups :) Donations may be dropped off in the front office. Make sure they are PEANUT FREE, PLEASE.
If you have any questions, comments or suggestion feel free to contact us via our website or you may leave a message in the office and one of us will contact you.
We are all looking forward to a great year!
